Joel Jones was born January 31, 1788,.   He married Mary Ward.    On page 96 of A Towner's History of the Valley and County of Chemung, (1892), we find:  One of Simeon R. His children were numerous being Ward, who became a merchant in Brooklyn, N.Y. City (1892);  Richmond, long time merchant in Elmira, whose wife will long be remembered in connection with the public charities of that city, and whose son Millard, is winning distinction and fortune as a lawyer in New York;   John R. thirty-five years ago the most enterprising merchant in Elmira, and whose wife was a member of the Wisner family of whom I have heretofore spoken;  and George, the youngest."
